The article is both textual and visual, full of charts. This is an updated article and is one you may want to read and re-read. (I find I must read it in pieces to get full value from it. Getting old ya know.)
Now, tell me why am I cynical.
There is a lot of good information in that site that you linked to. I don't understand how anyone could not be cynical with what is going on. I do think that bad economic times leads to war and that must be why the world is spending so much on military instead of peace. Further down in that site is the heading: Spending For Peace Vs Spending For War. And, in that section is revealed:

Indeed; why are we cynical?

Is the economy leading to war? In some ways, I agree. But I also think too much of our economy is based on military/industrial/university research complex. Have these "industries" gotten WAY TOO BIG To FAIL.
The fear of more job losses is used by this "industry" in the same way sometimes as Big Oil, Car Manufacturing, and even the justification for outsourcing. That dollar a day is better than what they were given you know.
Now add the element of "fear" of the "enemy".

ReplyDeleteSeriously, I have considered the cost of cutting military spending and I wonder if it would help or if it would make matters worse. How many would lose jobs while spending for weapons and other toys went right along. Still there are those people who are employed to make the toys or weapons.. I know, I should be more polite.
Kanna, Continue to write and rant as much as you want and I will continue to read and marvel.. and occasionally get a little cynical or even yell at these morons from my little cell....
